Getting referrals for your free laptop can be a hassle if you don’t know what you’re doing. This article will guide you into some more advanced steps and strategies you can take to get more referrals and get more promotion.

Remember: You can’t spam your link on every website in the universe, or where affiliate/referral links aren’t allowed. You must not use your link maliciously, or make fake accounts to get yourself referrals; you can’t post repeatedly on facebook or craigslist or any place else where self-promoting links aren’t allowed. You have to do it legitimately to get your new laptop. This article will help with that.

By the way, make sure you’ve gone on and created your account before you proceed with this stuff.

Here are some tips from freebiejeebies themselves on how to get referrals. My comments are in italics:

  • Copy your referral link and paste it into an email and send it to everyone in your address book. Only send the link out to people who you know won’t mind – and be honest with them about what you’re asking them to do. This was effective with me and I think it was because I told them honestly that they were helping me get a free laptop by working to get their own too.
  • Add your referral link to your signature on any forums you are a member of (if this is allowed).
  • Add your referral link to personal websites or blogs you contribute to (if this is allowed).
  • Sign up to eXceem, a forum dedicated to incentive sites for some great advice on how to get referrals, and to participate in trades.
  • Put your referral link on some free business cards.

And here are some my own advanced tips to get you started on the path to achieving referral abundance:

Tip 1 – Talk to people you know (friends, relatives, co-workers, etc) and tell them what freebiejeebies really is. Explain to them that it’s legitimate and loads of people earn gifts like a free laptop every day. Click here to see examples of tons of people who have gotten their free items too – just like you can.

Tip 2- Make a website with your referral link and a blurb telling people exactly what you are doing. Remember not to be shady, don’t spam, don’t scam. Freebiejeebies is very clear in their terms of service that they have the right to look into the legitimacy of their users and to see who is following their terms. Despite all this, and if you do things right, a website can be such a powerful tool for you. You can put your website link on your business cards, email signature, twitter feed, social networking site, etc.

Why does a website work good? The trick is to make your website legitimate and user-friendly. Make it serve a purpose other than just helping you. If you are sending people to a legitimate website that helps users (and also happens to contain your referral link) then nobody could every criticize you for spamming.

Tip 3Promote your website (the one that has your referral link on it) using other articles and websites. There are websites out there that let you write articles which include a link back to your website. Some of these include Hubpages, GoArticles, Ezinearticles, Squidoo, and more. You will not be allowed to put a link on those sites with your freebiejeebies referral link, but you can put a link to your own site. I cannot stress enough that you need to be user-centered; always be legit and never spam or scam. Your stuff needs to be user-friendly, everywhere.

Tip 4 – Talk to acquaintances, such as people at work or even someone you just met. If you are having a casual conversation with someone and they start talking about technology, or money, or jobs, tell them that you are a member on a website that gives away free stuff. Tell them that all you had to do was participate in a sponsor’s offer. Be honest about how much time it took you (most of the time it’s really quick!) and let them know that all you need to do now is promote the site. If the person is truly interested, write them your referral link or email it to them, and hopefully they’ll sign up for an account and start their own progress towards something free. This is also a great way to network with people and make new friends.

Tip 5 - Make friends online. This is essentially the same as Tip 4 only it would be strange if you suddenly came out with “well, I’m working on getting a free laptop. You can too!” it would sound really spammy. If you get to know people online you can say something like “tonight I was working on a sponsor offer for this thing I’m doing — I’m trying to get a free laptop and tons of other people have done it too”. That could get your friend’s attention. Email or PM them the link (it’s more private this way) and explain in the message what you are doing. If you try to be overly promotional to your friends and acquaintances it could send up red flags. Get them to trust you and you probably have a referral in the bag.

What are you waiting for? Start now.
